Whether you have a website for selling goods or services, or one simply for providing information about a particular subject matter, creating content that is optimized for search engines -- also known as SEO content -- helps people searching for what you’re selling or talking about find your website.

Keywords and Phrases
SEO is based on the use of keywords and phrases. When someone goes to Google --
or any other search engine -- and types in something he or she is looking for or would like to know more about, that person is providing Google with keywords to base its search on. For example, if someone types in “art shows in New York City,” Google will look for content containing the words "art," "art shows," "New York" and "New York City."

How SEO Content Works
Content that is optimized for search engines will contain a certain percentage of keywords and phrases that are chosen to attract Googlers
-- but not just any random Googlers -- the ones who will be happy they found your particular article and/or website because it provides them with exactly what they were looking for. For example, if you are a New York City art space or a publication that discusses art shows happening in New York City, you just might want to attract the consumer mentioned in the paragraph above. If so, you will want to have the aforementioned keywords featured prominently on your website in titles, headings, sub headings and at an optimal density.

Adding a Blog to Your Website
Attaching a blog to your website gives you a great way to get fresh content out there to your consumers and potential consumers, while also giving you a way to continually add more valuable SEO content to your website. With a blog you can let consumers know what your business is up to, provide up-to-date info about current trends in your field or even shine a spotlight on various members of your staff, all while incorporating keywords and phrases that will keep bringing the right consumers to you.

It can take a little creativity sometimes to get your keywords into your content just right, but most people will tell you it’s worth the effort.
